MY STORY

ABOUT ME
I never thought that I would find my passion at the age of 50!
From the first second I sat down at a wheel at my little pottery club here in Nelson, desperately trying to centre an earthy and wet lump of clay, I was hooked. Since that day in late 2020 I haven’t really stopped getting muddy.
Working with this wonderful organic material deepens the connection to myself, my creativity and the land around me.
Most of my creations are functional pieces thrown on the wheel.
But the freedom of hand building fascinates me more and more. Incorporating sand from beaches around the country makes every single piece very special and holds the richness and diversity of beautiful Aotearoa New Zealand.
After some years of creating and exploring by myself, I felt it was time to share my knowledge and love of clay with other people. Teaching pottery classes has become my second passion. Seeing my students’ skills grow throughout my classes and sharing in their enthusiasm for pottery is an amazing experience, which I find incredibly fulfilling and rewarding.
